Is this the right program?

Every Day Manners strengthens your dog's practical social skills and builds a better working relationship between the two of you. It covers basic commands and good manners with increased levels of distractions, so what your dog learns here holds up at the front door, on the sidewalk, and around other people.

Yes, if your dog

  • Pulls on the leash or drags you down the block

  • Jumps on guests and counters

  • Ignores you unless you are holding food

  • Bolts out the front door or the car door

  • Barks or nips when excited

  • Has never had formal training

Not yet, if your dog

  • Barks, lunges, or growls at people or dogs. Start with Ruff Edges

  • Is fearful, shy, or shuts down. Start with Ruff Edges

  • Has separation anxiety. Start with Ruff Edges

  • Is under 6 months old. Start with puppy classes

  • Needs the work done for you. See Day Training

Coming back the first time you call, not the fourth.

A loose leash instead of a dog towing you down the sidewalk.

Waiting at thresholds

No bolting through the front door, the gate, or the car door.

Questions

Do I need to be at the lessons?

Yes. Every Day Manners is a handler program as much as a dog program. We show you how to get the behavior and how to keep it once you go home. If you want the training done for you instead, look at Day Training or Board & Train.

My puppy is four months old. Can we start here?

Usually puppy classes are the better first step, because socialization during those months is time sensitive in a way obedience is not. A trainer will tell you which makes more sense when they review your questionnaire.

What if I need to cancel a lesson?

Give us at least 24 hours notice. A cancellation with less than 24 hours notice, or a no-show at your scheduled time, forfeits that lesson.

I work all day. Can I still do this?

Lessons are scheduled directly with your trainer, so many clients fit them around work. If your schedule will not allow consistent practice at home, Day Training is built for exactly that situation.

Cancellation policy

We work very hard to meet the needs of our client's busy schedules. Should you need to cancel your lesson, please do so with at least 24 hours notice. A cancellation notice less than 24 hours, or a no-show on your scheduled day and time, will result in the forfeit of that lesson.
